Retail decommissioning at scale is one of the most complex logistical challenges a company can face — especially when dozens of locations must be cleared, cleaned, and turned back over to landlords on the same day nationwide.

Recently, Fast Track Logistics, sister company to USA Lab Movers, was selected to manage and execute a large-scale retail decommissioning project involving 50+ store locations across the United States, all completed within a single coordinated window.

This project required precision planning, disciplined execution, and nationwide coordination — with zero margin for error.

The Challenge: One Day, Dozens of Cities, Zero Delays

Our customer required every retail location to be fully decommissioned on the same day. Each store needed to meet strict turnover standards so the space could immediately be returned to mall management and landlords.

The scope at every location included:

  • Removal and disposal of all furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FFE) not permanently bolted to floors or walls

  • Removal of loose debris, displays, shelving, and back-of-house materials

  • Proper disposal and recycling in compliance with local regulations

  • A final broom-swept condition, suitable for landlord walkthrough and acceptance

Any missed detail — an unfinished store, leftover debris, or delayed crew — could have resulted in lease penalties or delayed handoff.

Nationwide Coverage: Local Execution at a National Scale

Fast Track Logistics approached this project as a single national program, not a series of individual store closures.

Our teams supported locations across the country, including (but not limited to):

Bismarck, ND • Annapolis, MD • Boise, ID • Knoxville, TN • Sevierville, TN • Little Rock, AR • Kansas City, KS • Wichita, KS • Overland Park, KS • Lexington, KY • Ames, IA • Madison, WI • Naperville, IL • Lombard, IL • Vernon Hills, IL • Peoria, IL • Fort Wayne, IN • Livonia, MI • Grandville, MI • Toledo, OH • Dublin, OH • Maumee, OH • Erie, PA • Bensalem, PA • Niagara Falls, NY • Riverhead, NY • Lynnfield, MA • Newington, NH • Bridgewater, NJ • South Windsor, CT • Winston-Salem, NC • Charlotte, NC • North Charleston, SC • Atlanta, GA • Pooler, GA • Locust Grove, GA • Jacksonville, FL • San Antonio, TX • Frisco, TX • Allen, TX • Amarillo, TX • Bee Cave, TX • Flagstaff, AZ • Chandler, AZ • Park City, UT • Corte Madera, CA • Tulare, CA • Santa Clara, CA • Seattle, WA • Tacoma, WA • Bozeman, MT • Gretna, NE

Each location followed the same standardized decommissioning checklist, ensuring consistency regardless of geography.

How the Project Was Executed

Centralized Planning

Fast Track Logistics coordinated:

  • Nationwide scheduling across multiple time zones

  • Local crews and hauling partners vetted for retail decommissioning experience

  • Disposal and recycling partners aligned with municipal and state requirements

  • Uniform scope documentation to avoid confusion or scope creep

On-Site Execution

Crews arrived prepared with:

  • Clear removal instructions

  • Defined disposal plans

  • Site-specific mall and landlord requirements

  • Communication protocols for real-time reporting

All non-fixed materials were removed efficiently, debris was cleared, and stores were broom-swept prior to crew departure.

Final Verification

Each store underwent a final condition check to ensure:

  • No loose materials remained

  • Floors were cleared and swept

  • Spaces were ready for immediate turnover

Why Nationwide Decommissioning Projects Are High-Risk

Retail decommissioning projects of this scale carry significant risk for customers:

  • Missed deadlines can trigger lease penalties

  • Incomplete cleanouts can delay landlord acceptance

  • Inconsistent execution damages brand reputation

  • Poor coordination leads to cost overruns

Fast Track Logistics mitigates these risks by combining national oversight with reliable local execution, ensuring every location meets the same standard — on the same day.
